We couldn’t find a full body shot of Peter Sagal, but you know the Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! host has some sexy puns. OW!

This is terrific, because I always assumed that the only way I could get on the BBC would be to have David Attenborough narrate my mating rituals. Glad this happened instead.
I maybe find this entirely too exciting.
“Wait Wait” creator Doug Berman says it would be a typical show, “except NPR has to add a budget line for pants.”
very awesome! [pics from Wait Wait in LA back in 2008]
Lorna: You really have to construct this sandwich quickly. It’s a two person job. Mike: Yeah, but no one eating this sandwich will be eating with someone else

In honor of National Radio Day: the list of my top 10 Public Radio Programs that was in my short-lived (read: two issue) high school zine. Still pretty accurate. (Note: ranking is basically random past #3)
- Wait! Wait! Don’t Tell Me (DUH)
- This American Life (close second)
- A Prairie Home Companion (Garrison Keillor, you complete me)
- Says You!
- [American] Radio Works
- Studio 360
- Selected Shorts
- Fresh Air
- Anything Jay Allison does (kind of a cop out, but the man is a public radio producin’ genius and hotwired into my soul)
- City Arts and Lectures
Also Radiolab (don’t know how that got left off the original list. Oops), and let’s just go ahead and say every single program on KQED’s schedule.
Public radio is the business, y’all.
I totally forgot about National Radio Day. (It was Saturday.) We are honored to be #8 on your list. (Very nice penmanship.)

Sandwich Monday: The Oreo Triple Double : Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me! : NPR
For more than 35 years, the Oreo Double Stuf Cookie has been the king of Oreo spinoffs, known for its extra cream filling and for saving extra “F’s” for the words that truly need them. This summer Oreo is debuting the “Triple Double,” which is cookie-vanilla cream-cookie-chocolate cream-cookie. We couldn’t wait, so we made our own, using raw materials from Oreo and Trader Joe.
I used to work at Wait Wait. Thankfully, they did not begin tossing cookies until I left Chicago….:P (Hi Robert.)
How to: pick a name for your military operation, keep your macaroons from sticking to the pan, not look like a cheechako when you go to Alaska, and more.
If you like Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, chances are you’ll dig How To Do Everything, a new podcast from two of Wait Wait’s producers.

Happy Friday! Carl Kasell, the Hall of Fame NPR broadcaster and scorekeeper for Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!, did the Bears players a favor by reciting the famous Al Pacino pre-game speech from the movie Any Given Sunday. It’s a pump up pre-game speech from your extended family at NPR/WBEZ.
